"It's a great place to visit. I've done everything from running in the jungle, working out on the beach, going sailing for the first time in my life and taking a helicopter trip to see the local wildlife. I had breakfast with a group of Japanese travel journalists staying at the same hotel as me and even blessed a Japanese wedding couple who had their marriage ceremony by the sea. I drove at Sepang in a Honda NSX sports car after winning at Macau last year, so I know the circuit a little. It has lots of fast, long corners where the car is on the edge all the way exactly my kind of track, so I think I will really enjoy this Grand Prix. I have experienced an F1 race weekend and now I am looking forward to qualifying normally, and hopefully, completing a good race."

"I am very happy with how today went because the car worked without any problems at all which meant I was able to complete 44 laps and really get to know the circuit well. We decided to do long race simulation runs, which was good not only for the car, but also for me to test how physically demanding the race will be. Today was the first time I have driven a racing car under these conditions and I am very pleased I decided to go for a week's training in Malaysia to acclimatise myself it was a good decision!"

"After the problems we had in Melbourne this was my first real experience of Formula One qualifying and I am relatively satisfied with the performance. Overall I am quite happy and very much looking forward to building on today's performance in tomorrow's race."

"I am really sorry about what happened with Giancarlo. I apologise very much, it shouldn't have happened. I saw a Toyota pushing him going into the first corner and then into turn 2 they were side by side with me right behind them. Unfortunately I moved across and went into the back of Giancarlo. I damaged my steering and front wing in the accident but the mechanics were able to change the wing in the pit stop and I coped with the steering problem. Obviously I am very happy to have finished the race in the top ten, but this is marred by the fact that I damaged my teammate's chances of scoring points. I apologise to him immediately after the race and he took it extremely well which I think says a lot about his good character."
